SAG Awards 2020

The 26th ceremony was held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

Here’s who won at the SAG Awards – and those who lost out this time:

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role

  • Joaquin Phoenix, Joker– Joaquin Phoenix is being lauded for his role as unhinged Arthur Fleck in Joker. The actor took preparation for the role seriously by shedding three stone, studying personality disorders and watched “videos of people suffering from pathological laughter” to nail the sinister laugh. WINNER
  • Christian Bale, Ford v Ferrari– The Welsh-born actor is best known for complex and tormented characters in films such as American Psycho and the Batman trilogy, often transforming his body drastically for roles. The 45-year-old had to apparently lose 70lbs to play fearless driver Ken Miles.
  • Leonardo DiCaprio, Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood– The Django actor starred in another Quentin Tarantino film as he played actor Rick Dalton, a once-famous actor trying to find work in a Hollywood he no longer recognises. The film has been billed as a comedic drama.
  • Adam Driver, Marriage Story – Star Wars actor Adam is best known for his breakthrough role as Adam Sackler in TV series Girls. The 36-year-old American actor stars alongside Scarlett Johansson in this devastating divorce drama.
  • Taron Egerton, Rocketman– The actor portrays a young Elton John and depicts his epic transformation from a shy piano player to an international superstar.
